Mr. Schweitzer has over 24 years of civil engineering experience in educational facilities, biotechnical, residential, mixed-use, medical office buildings, affordable housing, hospitality, commercial, and public land development design and project management.  As President and founder of SWS Engineering, Inc., he oversees all client interaction, project management, quality control, and the in-house company training program.

Michael has managed the design and development of many of our most successful projects, ranging from modernizations and upgrades, to demolition and construction of entire new sites. Projects include: Autumn Terrace, the first LEED Platinum Multi-Family Housing development in California, the SDCCD Mesa College Business and Technology Center, which consisted of the demolition and new construction of a new higher-education expansion on a working campus using the Design-Build delivery method, and Campus Pointe, a biotechnology business park sitting on an expansive 42-acre site in an enclave of UTC adjacent to Torrey Pines. Renovations and expansions include a 22,000sf state-of-the-art subterranean fitness facility enveloped by drought-tolerant landscaping, raised organic garden beds, outdoor seating for the new on-site Brian Malarkey restaurant and another large organic garden to supplement the restaurant’s produce needs.

Prior to starting SWS Engineering, Inc. in 2007, Mr. Schweitzer served as Vice President for a large southern California Engineering firm and was responsible for opening and managing the operations of the Riverside, CA office. He is currently registered as a Professional Civil Engineer in  California and Arizona, and he has been involved with many successful projects covering a myriad of market sectors throughout California and Arizona.

When he’s not in the office, you can find Mike practicing his swing at any number of golf courses around town, or on a really good day – Pebble Beach. Even though golf isn’t his actual “career”, it is most certainly a healthy passion. Mike lives in Escondido with his wife, Donna and their three children, Ryley, Grace and Ethan.

Tracy Santucci, P.E., Q.S.D.

Ms. Santucci has over 30 years of civil engineering experience in land development with an emphasis in hydrology, hydraulics, utility design, grading, and current computer design applications. Tracy spent four years on the San Marcos Planning Commission reviewing permit applications ranging from minor business expansions to major subdivisions and also served on the City of San Marcos’ General Plan Advisory Committee. In addition to the invaluable experience of reviewing plans and advising from an agency standpoint, her impeccable ability to think big-picture while paying close attention to complex details makes Ms. Santucci the perfect fit as our Principal in Charge of SWS’ internal QA/QC Program.

Tracy’s recent project experience includes the Palomar College Operations and Maintenance Complex, a Design-Build new construction project on Palomar College’s active main campus; Orange Vista High School in the Val Verde Unified School District, the complete design of a brand new 3,000 student campus on 35 acres of vacant property; and Solutions Housing, a 3-story mixed-use development in Escondido serving San Diego’s homeless population with transitional housing while residents participate in Solutions for Change’s revolutionary rehabilitation program.

Ms. Santucci is a registered Professional Engineer and Qualified SWPPP Developer (QSD) in the State of California and has managed the design and development of many of our most successful projects, ranging from small Tenant Improvement and ADA upgrades/accessibility, to the design of brand new educational, commercial and life science campuses. In addition to her experience and engineering skills, her coordination, management skills and meticulous attention to detail make her an invaluable asset to SWS Engineering’s team and our clients.

Tracy loves to travel in her free time and from Bali to Ireland, she has crossed off many of her bucket list locations around the globe; most recently traveling to Fiji! When she’s not globetrotting or designing projects, we also hear she has devoted hours to perfecting her chili recipe. Get to know her and you might just be lucky enough to try it! Tracy lives in Oceanside, CA.

 

Preston ayer, p.e

Director, Nashville/Mid-West

Mr. Ayer obtained his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from California Polytechnic (Cal Poly), San Luis Obispo CA in 2012. Since then, Preston has worked on a wide range of projects including Commercial, Industrial, K-12 Education, Higher Education, Restaurants, Hospitality, Government and Residential Developments. Preston began his career with SWS Engineering in Southern California and has since worked with firms in both California and, more recently, Tennessee. Preston and his family re-located to the Nashville area in 2016. Since then, he has managed many projects from start to finish throughout the Middle Tennessee area. His recent project experience includes 1106 Buchanan St, a 5-unit, three story townhome development in North Nashville, the new 70,000 sf Dickson County Justice Center in Charlotte, TN, Little Sprouts Children Academy in Columbia, TN, and the Noble Park Townhomes, a 36-unit development in Gallatin, TN. Preston is well versed in the latest water quality regulations and has taken the Level 1 and 2 TN Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control courses. Preston is registered as a Professional Civil Engineer in Tennessee and Kentucky. 

When he is not working hard, Preston can be found driving around in his Jeep, taking his family camping at one of the many TN State Parks, or headed down to the gulf to enjoy the beach. Preston lives in Spring Hill with his wife, Lauren, their daughter Kylene and Baby Carson, who was born in August 2021.

adam Muszynski, p.e, c.m.r.p

Director, Phoenix/Mountain States

We are pleased to announce the hiring of Adam Muszynski as Director of the new Phoenix, Arizona office. Adam is an Arizona Professional Engineer with nearly 15 years of industry experience and received his civil engineering degree from the University of Arizona (Bear Down). He’s accomplished in successfully leading project teams and managing design across a broad spectrum of engineering projects. Adam has contributed to many designs, from minor site grading and drainage for residential houses and commercial buildings, to city utilities, to major roadway projects. Throughout his career, Adam has been involved in various project delivery methods including Design-Bid-Build, Construction Manager at Risk, and Design-Build working with multi-discipline teams across the state of Arizona. In Adam’s previous position at Central Arizona Project, he worked state wide managing designs for upgrades to one of Arizona’s most critical water infrastructure features, the CAP canal. As part of that role, he worked with developers, government agencies, contractors, and design teams to help them create successful projects adjacent to the CAP canal.  

Outside of work, Adam is married to his wife, Angela, and they have a 15 month old daughter named Elise. In his free time, Adam plays a lot of golf and is looking forward to challenging Mr. Schweitzer on the course sometime in the future. Adam also likes to stay active cycling, riding the peloton, and coaching the Grand Canyon University rugby team.
